On June 3rd, our school community came together to commemorate Uganda Martyrs’ Day, a significant public holiday in Uganda. This important day honors the martyrdom of 45 Catholic converts who were executed in the late 19th century for their faith.
To mark this occasion, our school suspended academic activities for the day, allowing our students to participate in various activities that celebrated the lives and legacies of these brave martyrs.
The day began with a beautiful Mass held in our school’s main hall, attended by all students, teachers, and our head teacher. The service was a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the martyrs and the importance of standing up for one’s beliefs.
Following the Mass, OLGC students were treated to a sumptuous meal that exceeded their expectations! The special menu was a delightful surprise, and everyone enjoyed the delicious food.
The school choir (Counsel Choir) had an exciting practice session after lunch, preparing for upcoming events. In which all these practices paid off by being the third in the Kampala Archdiocesan Music Festivals, hence moving to the next round. You reap what you saw. Meanwhile, the rest of the student body indulged in lively music and entertainment, creating a vibrant atmosphere that felt like a weekend, despite it being a Monday!
In the midst of all the fun, some students jokingly admitted they had forgotten that the next day would be a regular academic day!
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our school board and administration for promoting Catholic values and creating a joyful and spirit-filled environment for our students. Thank you for making Uganda Martyrs’ Day a memorable celebration!
God bless our school community!
YOU REAP WHAT YOU SAW.
